Delrin 100P Processing Matrix & Melt Control Checklist

Because Delrin 100P has high molecular weight, processing its low-melt-index resin requires precise gate geometries and high-capacity degassing:

1. Viscous Melt Delivery & Large Gates

With a low melt index of 2.4, Delrin 100P is highly viscous. Gates must be sized generously (minimum 70% of part wall thickness) and sprues polished to avoid dynamic pressure drops and high shear stress, which can cause surface splay and gate blush.

2. High-Capacity Mold Exhaust & Degassing

Formaldehyde outgassing occurs naturally. Low-MFR melts residing longer in the barrel require rapid air exhaust. Jucheng machines highly ventilated venting grooves (0.020mm) using premium S136 stainless steel mold cavity blocks to prevent gas burns.

3. Crystalline Shrinkage Compensation

Like standard POM-H, Delrin 100P shrinks heavily (1.80% to 2.20%). We employ Moldflow simulation to locate gate inputs strategically, applying progressive packing pressures to feed the center core and eliminate internal shrink voids.

4. High-Temp Oil Temperature Control

To optimize crystallinity and surface gloss, we keep mold temperatures at 80°C to 120°C (176°F to 248°F) using pressurized temperature controllers. Low mold temperatures prevent the crystalline phase from forming correctly, resulting in part warpage.
