PEEK-Victrex PEEK 150G

Achieving high mechanical integrity and chemical resistance in complex, thin-walled geometries requiring long flow lengths demands an ultra-flow super-polymer, which Victrex’s PEEK 150G delivers through its unreinforced, low-viscosity polyetheretherketone matrix. Boasting a melt viscosity of 130 Pa·s at 400°C and a melting point of 343°C, this easy-flow grade is designed to fill sub-millimeter profiles without sacrificing the high tensile strength (105 MPa) of pure PEEK. Jucheng Precision, under ISO 13485 and IATF 16949 medical and automotive frameworks, specializes in molding Victrex 150G. Using S136 stainless steel molds, we control its high crystallization variables to deliver flash-free micro-gears and thin-wall connectors verified by Zeiss CMM.

Victrex PEEK 150G Thin-Wall Flow & Structural Profile

Victrex™ PEEK 150G is an unreinforced, high-flow semi-crystalline Polyetheretherketone resin, certified to deliver outstanding melt flow properties and robust mechanical stiffness under ASTM/ISO standards:

Physical & Strength Parameter Lexan 150G Standard Metric Precision Molding Advantage
Melt Viscosity Ultra-Low 130 Pa·s (at 400°C) Enables smooth, low-pressure cavity filling of complex thin-walled medical connectors and micro-gears without short-shot defects.
Yield Strength Tensile Stress at Yield 105 MPa Retains outstanding structural stiffness and metal-like mechanical load-bearing capacity even in unreinforced configurations.
Structural Ductility Tensile Elongation at Break 25 – 30% Provides exceptional structural elongation and dynamic impact toughness compared to standard glass-filled grades, preventing brittle failure.

Micro-Precision Process Adaptability for Easy-Flow PEEK 150G

With low melt viscosity and integrated high-flow kinetics, PEEK 150G processes predictably inside extremely tight mold cavities:

Molding Process Class Process Compatibility & Operational Details
Thin-Wall Structural Enclosures Excellent. The primary process for PEEK 150G. Perfect for sub-millimeter medical connector pins, aerospace conduit guides, and diagnostic cuvettes.
Micro-Precision Gears & Components Excellent. Highly optimized for manufacturing sub-millimeter micro-helical gears, medical diagnostic rotors, and orthopedic target pins.
Multi-Cavity Automated Fast Runs Excellent. Easy-flow characteristics support rapid, high-pressure injection molding with highly uniform weight and dimensional replication.

PEEK-Victrex PEEK 150G Dynamic Molding Processing Matrix

Molding an ultra-high fluidity, semi-crystalline super-polymer like PEEK 150G requires high thermal boundaries and micron-level parting lines to prevent flashing:

Micron-Level Flash Control (Tooling Precision)

Because PEEK 150G has exceptional flow capabilities (melt viscosity 130 Pa·s), molten resin can seep easily into minor mold gaps, causing unsightly flashing. Jucheng’s tooling division uses 5-axis CNC machines to achieve micro-tolerances, keeping mold parting clearances strictly within 0.005mm on premium S136 stainless steel mold cavity blocks heat-treated to 52 HRC.

Pressurized Oil Mold Heating (Crystallization Control)

To secure the proper semi-crystalline phase (giving PEEK its signature opaque beige color and stiffness), mold temperatures must be maintained continuously at 160°C–200°C (320°F to 392°F) using pressurized oil-heating controllers. Cold molds cause the melt to freeze amorphous, turning parts translucent brown and mechanically weak.

Desiccant Pre-Drying Protocol

While PEEK absorbs minimal water, moisture causes hydrolytic splay and weld line degradation. We desiccant-dry PEEK 150G resin at 150°C (302°F) for 3–4 hours, keeping internal moisture below 0.02% to secure optimal molecular bonds.

Melt and Gate Optimization

Melt temperatures are strictly kept between 360°C and 400°C (680°F to 752°F) using ceramic heater bands. To prevent high shear heating and cosmetic splay near sub-millimeter gates, our engineering team optimizes hot-runner gate geometries during the DFM phase.
