Molding an unreinforced, high-viscosity semi-crystalline polymer like PEEK 450G requires extreme thermal boundaries to secure proper crystalline development:

To secure the proper semi-crystalline phase (giving PEEK its signature opaque beige color and stiffness), mold temperatures must be maintained continuously at 160°C–200°C (320°F to 392°F) using oil-heating controllers. Cold molds cause the melt to freeze amorphous, turning parts translucent brown and mechanically weak.
Hardened S136 Mirror-Polished Tooling
Due to the extreme clamping pressures and melt velocities of PEEK 450G, Jucheng’s tooling division uses hardened, corrosion-resistant S136 stainless steel molds. We heat-treat cavities to 52 HRC and design generous draft angles (minimum 1.5° to 2.0°) to ensure clean part release.
Ceramic Barrel Melt Management
Molding is processed between 360°C and 400°C (680°F to 752°F). Jucheng utilizes specialized, ceramic heater bands and bi-metallic barrels on our presses. Exceeding 420°C can result in chemical chain fracturing and polymer degradation.
Pre-essiccazione prolungata con essiccante
While PEEK absorbs minimal water, moisture causes hydrolytic splay and weld line degradation. We desiccant-dry PEEK 450G resin at 150°C (302°F) for 3–4 hours, keeping internal moisture below 0.02% to secure optimal molecular bonds.
